2016 AWARDS PRESENTATIONS

At the 31st Gala Méritas de Gatineau event, held last April 27th at la Maison de la culture de Gatineau, the Pat-Burns Foundation was pleased to present its annual awards, as well as the Pat-Burns Foundation award to Gatineau coaches who, year long, devote themselves to the development of their sport.  This year, the Pat-Burns Foundation Coach of the year award went to Mr. Olivier Renaud, of Natation Gatineau, who received a grant of $500. towards the purchase of training and equipment for his team, a symbolic trophy and an additional gift of $500.

Mr. Renaud has been coaching in Gatineau since 2013 and has under his wing a group of 22 athletes who have achieved national AA and AAA standards.  Creative and bursting with imagination, he knows how to develop stimulating training exercises that are available to athletes of all levels, enabling them to surpass themselves whilst keeping a playful and competitive spirit. Mr. Renaud has also often been chosen as coach at many Quebec junior training camps.  Over the course of last year he guided his swimmers to earn three provincial records.

Four awards of $500 were also presented to finalist coaches, towards the purchase of training and equipment for their team.  The Foundation wanted to reward the tremendous dedication of these coaches who, day in and day out, work at improving their team’s performance :

  • Mrs. Catherine Bard and Marie-Pier Payette, syncronized swimming

  • Mr. Denis Beaudoin, karate

  • Mrs. Marie-Ève D’Aoust, ringette

  • Mr. Mathieu Toupin, tennis

For the current edition, the Pat-Burns Foundation put together an independent selection committee who reviewed all of the applications received, based on the eligibility criteria that had been set forth.

Congratulations to our finalists and to the 2016 award winner!
